What this study found

Creatine monohydrate prevented the decline in lower-limb muscle power seen during pre-season training. Baseline countermovement jump performance was similar between groups (p = 0.99), and the creatine group showed a +2.4% change versus -0.7% in placebo. The time x group interaction was not statistically significant (p = 0.23), but fewer creatine subjects experienced a reduction in jumping performance than placebo subjects (1 vs 5; Fisher's exact test p = 0.05).

Study & population
Randomized placebo-controlled intervention in professional male Brazilian elite soccer players during a 7-week pre-season training period.
Intervention
The active intervention was oral creatine monohydrate dissolved in juice.
Key limitation
Very small active-arm sample size (N = 7) limits precision and generalizability.
