94 patients in ICU, randomized into two groups (47 each). Inflammatory blood factors and infection occurrence compared through various tests.
Intervention
Patients admitted to ICU received one 400 mg garlic tablet daily for 6 days; control group received placebo.
Results
No positive culture results in the intervention group, while 5 positives were noted in the control group. Garlic supplementation showed effectiveness in reducing nosocomial infections.
