What this study found

Resveratrol did not improve hepatic steatosis or cardiovascular indices in overweight adults with type 2 diabetes. Compared with placebo, changes were not significant for LAP (P=0.43), VAI (P=0.47), CRI-I (P=0.79), CRI-II (P=0.38), or AC (P=0.79). Mean changes also remained small and inconsistent with benefit, and no serious adverse events were reported.

Study & population
Double-blind, randomized controlled trial in overweight adults with type 2 diabetes recruited from a diabetes research center in Yazd, Iran.
Intervention
Resveratrol 1000 mg/day was given as two capsules daily for 8 weeks.
Key limitation
The trial was short, with only 8 weeks of supplementation, and the active arm was modest in size (38 randomized, 35 completed).
